BSLA - Welcome!
The Boston Society of Landscape Architects is the oldest chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, founded in 1913. BSLA is one of the largest chapters in the nation with members throughout Massachusetts and Maine.
Governance is by an elected Executive Committee and Committee Chairs and hundreds of volunteers actively serve on committees and task forces. BSLA advocates on behalf of the profession and provides networking, professional development, and social events for members and allied professionals. BSLA supports the student chapters in three colleges and annually awards up to three scholarships. Check out our Calendar of Events for more details.

With approximately 6,000 landscape architects in attendance, the 2013 ASLA Annual Meeting and EXPO was a great success!
National leaders, staff, and, more importantly, attendees from around the world could have not been thrilled with the efforts of all of our volunteers. We heard many unsolicited comments that Boston set the new standard for host chapter responsibilities. They all said that it will be difficult in the years to come for chapters to come close to what our chapter was able to accomplish.
This success would not have been possible without our remarkable members and volunteers. Over 100 of you volunteered countless hours of the past year-plus to make the 2013 Annual Meeting such a success. From the BSLA Executive Committee and 2013 Planning Committee, thank you for showing how Boston can shine!
New Executive Committee Term
At the conclusion of the ASLA Annual Meeting, new officers assumed their positions on the BSLA Executive Committee. Tim Nickerson, ASLA became President of the chapter after serving as President-Elect for a year and in a few capacities for several years prior. Having completed two successful years as President, Kathleen Ogden, ASLA continues on the Executive Committee as Past-President.
Joining the Executive Committee are Crystal Maring, ASLA as Secretary and Jeanne Lukenda, ASLA as Trustee. Holly BenJoseph, ASLA served two years as Secretary and will continue to be a contributor to your Programs Committee. After twenty years of leadership positions on BSLA’s Executive Committee, our former Trustee Tom Doolittle, ASLA will continue to serve ASLA as national Vice-President of Government Affairs. Welcome to Crystal and Jeanne, and thank you to Holly and Tom for your years of work on behalf of BSLA.
Continuing their service to BSLA on the Executive Committee are Jef Fasser, ASLA as Treasurer, Kevin Horgan, ASLA as Member-at-Large, Steve Ribble, ASLA as Maine Section Chair, and Mark Lindhult, FASLA as Western Massachusetts Section Chair. They are joined by a strong team of committee chairs and volunteers to maintain the momentum BSLA has developed over this past year.
