The
popularity of youth and adult sports is growing and as a result,
pressure on public and private sports fields in New England is increasing.
In
response to demand new sports fields are being constructed and existing
fields renovated. Architects, engineers, construction professionals,
and their colleagues are challenged to design, build, and maintain
safe, functional fields and complexes that are ecologically sustainable
and economically feasible. Join us November 29 in Foxborough for
a special symposium designed for professionals who design and construct
sports fields, who write, review, and comply with sports field construction
and renovation specifications, who manage grow-in and field maintenance,
or oversee any of these processes.
Successful
projects result in fields that enhance the community and are capable
of handling high levels of use. A lineup of expert speakers from
New England and beyond will be on hand to present and discuss the
fundamentals of sports field construction, field construction types
and methods appropriate for various site conditions, cutting edge,
ecologically sustainable design elements, how to work proactively
and innovatively with environmentally mandated restrictions, and
more. This event will also provide the opportunity to network with
like-minded professionals.
Registration
includes workshop admission, continental breakfast, lunch, and a
guided tour of Gillette Stadium. Be sure to register early, as seats
are limited and first-come-first-serve! Cost is $225 per person
up to November 10; $250 after November 10. For complete symposium
information, or to register online or by mail, go to www.umassturf.org.
Pre-registration deadline: November 24, 2006.
